Lwaxana Troi is one of our favorites. Read more about her on her Memory Alpha page. Becca found this great interview with Majel Barrett from 1988 on StarTrek.com.

Read about how Lwaxana Troi Became Our Space Aunt at StarTrek.com. You should also look up the film Auntie Mame if you didn't know what we were talking about. Ditto for Designing Women and The Golden Girls, which are both on Hulu right now. You can read more about Mrs. Troi's fashion at Women At Warp.

Ryan talked about Burning Man a lot in this episode. Burning Man is a festival where people you might consider hippies build a temporary city in the United States' dustiest desert. You could read this beginner's guide, or check out these National Geographic photos, if you want to evaluate the similarities between Burning Man and Lwaxana's holodeck program for yourself. Also, here is a video of a man at Burning Man juggling while riding a unicycle, which would definitely happen at this holodeck hippie spa.

Ishka aka MOOGIE

To learn more about our favorite Ferengi, check out her Memory Alpha page. Moogie was played both by Andrea Martin, who is best known for her role in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and Cecily Adams, who died of lung cancer in 2004. Both women were trained in improv before their work on Star Trek.

READ THE RULES OF ACQUISITION OMG and have a good laugh.

If you want to see something really amazing, watch this vintage Regis and Kathy Lee video where Armin Shimmerman appears with and without is makeup and is shown in the makeup chair. It is a great insight into what Andrea Martin and Cecily Adams went through to become Moogie. It’s also awkward and hilarious as only a morning show can be.

Here is some information about ageism in Hollywood from Refinery29 and the AARP. Women over 45 actually outnumber men over 45 in the real world, despite how it may look on screen.
