Take your mama out! We look at our two favorite matriarchs of Trek, Lwaxana Troi, and Ishka, aka Moogie. We watched The Next Generation "The Cost of Living," (S5:E20), and Deep Space Nine's "Family Business" (S3:E23)

Ryan talked about Burning Man a lot in this episode. Burning Man is a festival where people you might consider hippies build a temporary city in the United States' dustiest desert. Ishka aka MOOGIE
To learn more about our favorite Ferengi, check out her Memory Alpha page. Moogie was played both by Andrea Martin, who is best known for her role in My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and Cecily Adams, who died of lung cancer in 2004. Both women were trained in improv before their work on Star Trek.

If you want to see something really amazing, watch this vintage Regis and Kathy Lee video where Armin Shimmerman appears with and without is makeup and is shown in the makeup chair. It is a great insight into what Andrea Martin and Cecily Adams went through to become Moogie. It’s also awkward and hilarious as only a morning show can be.
